to do better
The sage old saying goes like this “if you know better, you can do better”, and while that’s all well and good … sometimes we know better and we’re just not ready to do better yet.
AND THAT’S OK.
So often we’re quick to judge ourselves by the goals we fail to achieve or our perceived missed opportunities. But, what if we changed the narrative? What if instead of judging ourselves for sleeping through our alarm we recognize that our body is telling us we need the rest. Maybe instead of rushing into the inner dialogue of judgement and self-doubt in our capabilities, we leaned into tenderness and care towards ourselves.
Talk to yourself with the kindness and love that you would a best friend… have a bath, watch your guilty pleasure TV show or go for a walk if your body is craving to move. Whatever it is, lean into the gentleness that your mind deserves. Your intuition will tell you what you need, close your eyes, take a breath, and listen to it.
The thing is, no one knows you better than you. When you know better, when you’re ready… that’s when you’ll do better.
